Based in Fort Walton Beach, Florida and drawing musicians from Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Bay counties the Emerald Coast Community Band has been around for over a decade. Under the baton of Nancy Thiele we perform several times a year for various community events and local charitable organizations.

We welcome all ages and skill levels on any percussion or wind instrument. We don't hold try outs or chair challenges, we're more of a "come one, come all" kind of outfit. However, for insurance purposes we must require that band members be high school graduates. During our colder months we're fortunate enough to have some snowbirds join us. Some of them have been returning for several years. The exact size of the band is rather fluid, from 35 to almost twice that.

If you need it we can even help you find an instrument.

Our repertoire includes everything from classical to pop, from Sousa marches to Broadway. Several tunes found in our library are the result of band members suggestions, favorites we remember from high school or college. Band members are encouraged to write or arrange scores for the band to try out.

Linda and Will Corbin have graciously and bravely agreed to take over the duties of music librarians. During our recent hiatus they put in hours and hours sorting and cataloging cartons of music, some going back decades. They have published a list of charts that they want to round up. If you don't have the list yet contact Bob, Will, Linda or your friendly Web Master and we will fix you right up.

We rehearse on Tuesday nights from 7:00 - 8:30 in the Meigs Middle School band room, 105 Richbourg Ave. in Shalimar, FL. After rehearsal we've been known to retire around the corner to our favorite Cheers style cantina for a bit of socializing.

The band room is in the far southwestern corner of the campus. The following Google app will give you directions to the intersection nearest there. From there go east through the gate and then immediately left. The band room will be the first door on your right.
